Committee on Ministerial Examination

Christian Methodist Episcopal Church 8th Episcopal Region Committee on Ministerial Examination

By Rev. Dr. Charles W. Johnson

I would like to thank Senior Bishop Lawrence L. Reddick III for the opportunity to serve in this area. I have served on the Committee on Ministerial Examination since 1992.

My work as the Coordinator of Ministerial Examination is to focus upon the Bishop’s Course of Study.  As part of my role, I am to schedule the training classes with the candidates and committee members with frequency four times a year.

The areas of study from the Bishop’s course of study are the following:

  1. Catechism
  2. Sermon Development
  3. General Introduction to The Bible
  4. Ritual/Sacraments/Doctrine
  5. Practical Theology and Organizational
  6. Church Administration
  7. Bible Study Preparation

As the Coordinator I have examinations for each year of study for a period of five years to complete the Bishop Course of Study.  In addition, a written report is prepared on the status of each candidate to the Annual Conference.

Meet with the Committee for recommendation and action of the Committee for each candidate shall be a written report, a copy of which shall be filed with the Secretary of the Annual Conference.

In conclusion, the work as the Coordinator of the Committee on Ministerial Examination his been very rewarding and challenging.  I pray that my work and effort has made a difference in the lives of those I had the opportunity to work with over last twenty-eight years.  To God Be They Glory!

Sincerely,

Rev. Dr. Charles W. Johnson
